Helston RFC delivered a statement of intent with commanding victories in both fixtures, as the first and second teams triumphed over Camborne Crusaders II and Veor respectively at Clodgey Lane.

The weekend's action began under the Friday night lights as Helston II welcomed Veor in a highly anticipated fixture. After weather disruptions and availability issues had plagued much of their season, the seconds seized their opportunity with both hands, delivering a comprehensive 45-10 victory.

Player-Coach John Tyler led from the front with an impressive five-try haul, whilst Nathan Holliday and Ashley Chikosi also crossed the whitewash. Fullback Dan Soper proved reliable from the tee, converting throughout the evening. Despite the scoreline, Veor showed admirable determination and matched their hosts physically in what proved a competitive and spirited contest, albeit with occasional flashpoints.

Saturday brought the weekend's marquee fixture as previously unbeaten Camborne Crusaders made the short journey to Clodgey Lane for what many considered Helston's sternest test of the campaign to date.

The hosts produced a scintillating first-half performance, racing to a 28-0 lead whilst completely shutting out their visitors. Amori Matanatabu crossed twice, with Rowan Lawrence and Decarlo Trerise also touching down. Experienced fullback Tomas Townsend added the extras, putting Helston firmly in control at the interval.

Camborne emerged with renewed purpose after the break, breaching Helston's defence first. Leo Armstrong Lever responded for the hosts—Townsend again converting—but the visitors then scored three tries in quick succession to make a genuine contest of proceedings.

A yellow card for Helston's Jack Sherratt reduced the home side to 14 men for ten minutes, which Camborne exploited effectively. However, Helston's composure and defensive organisation remained resolute under pressure.

The match's decisive moment came when a late, high tackle on fly-half Harry Walsh-Newton saw a Camborne player receive a red card. Helston capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Townsend crossing for a try and adding the conversion to seal a 40-22 victory.

The weekend's results represent a significant statement from Helston RFC, demonstrating the quality and depth being developed throughout the club. With both teams delivering commanding performances, the foundation appears firmly in place for continued success as the season progresses.
